We have made it to May! I am sure I am not the only one looking forward to warmer weather. There is just something about the change of seasons that feels good and I love the wardrobe opportunities!

Once again, I pulled together the top ten most clicked on items from the month of April.

When I checked, most of these items were still available, so instead of direct alternatives, I found pieces that were similar in style. Click on the board above to shop any of the top ten favorites.

1. One of the most clicked items was this adorable pinafore dress piece from Maisonette. The color is perfection! This particular piece is available in sizes 2Y to 8Y and the adjustable straps allow for it to grow with your little one. Here are a few more similar options to check out:

2. My personal favorite on the Top Ten style board this month is the Boden Vintage Tropical Pattern dress. I love the classic cut and happy pattern so much! The size range on this item is 2Y – 12Y and if you like that one, you will love these:

3. One of the Top Ten for April was this standard-fit cotton oxford shirt for men. I would recommend this for anyone. It is such a universal item that can see you from under a suit, to over a bathing suit and everywhere in between. I found a few other options as well as a complimentary tie:

Senior pictures are the perfect opportunity to let your personal style shine! Most senior photo sessions allow for a couple outfit and/or scenery changes so you are able to highlight your best self. I recommend a more casual option, a dressier look and then your “go-to” outfit you already have in your closet that you LOVE.

I curated 3 different senior pictures style boards featuring looks that lean preppy, retro and boho. Just as location is important to keep in mind when deciding outfits for family pictures, I would argue it is even more important for senior pictures, as it is only you and the background. An accessory, like a hat, can be used to mix up the look or the poses throughout your session. You may also choose to highlight an extracurricular activity by including a musical instrument or sports equipment, so those may help decide the rest of your outfit choices.

The first style board is for everyone who loves classic, preppy style. I LOVE the combo of white denim and the feminine coral top. Complete the look with comfortable classic slides. This outfit would look amazing outside with greenery or spring florals as well as indoor settings.

I mentioned above that a dressier look is good, not only for capturing your young adult style, but it can be used for admission applications, yearbook needs or let’s be real that is what grandma is looking for! On this style board, the dressier look is a pretty floral print dress with ruffle layers. Pick a neutral dress shoe to let the dress stand out, or have some fun!

The third look on the preppy senior pictures style board is a classic blue and white striped shirt dress. Complete this look with your go-to jewelry and add a headband. I chose Sperrys in a fun rose shade for this style board. I wanted to make sure to share a few more pieces for this preppy style:

Next is a style board featuring a retro inspired style. If fun prints and cuts from decades past make you feel your best, your senior picture looks should reflect that!

For the casual look, I selected a graphic tee and playful skirt. I don’t usually recommend graphic tees for anyone in a group photo, but if you have one you love or that express your style, it could be fun for senior pictures. In this look, I paired it with a skirt in a coordinating color to keep the look pulled together. You could play with layers here and add a denim jacket. I completed this look with floral tennis shoes and a cloth knot headband.

I chose this amazing green wrap dress with a 40s – 50s retro floral print. Add a neutral shoe to keep the dress the statement for this dressy senior pictures look.

The third outfit starts with wide leg denim in a dark wash and button fly. Pair these with a printed cropped blouse in a v-neck that will frame your face beautifully for pictures. Add a pointed flat in a happy yellow to finish the look. Here are a few other pieces that I loved with this board:

The third senior picture style board I created gives a nod to boho style.

The casual look on this board is anchored with a denim skirt and striped shirt. Layer on a green cargo jacket and white Converse.

I LOVE this cream maxi dress with the embroidery and ruffle detail. As I mentioned, hats can be a fun accessory for photos and these sandals are the perfect way to finish the boho vibe.

Whether you pick pieces from your closet or buy new, no matter your style, the most important thing is to be authentically you so you cherish the memories forever.

Happy Mother’s Day! I am lucky enough to have an amazing mom and bonus mom in my life. Through marriage I gained a wonderful mother-in-law, I am honored to be a mother of three myself, and have many friends who are moms to both humans and dogs! I am looking forward to Mother’s Day this year to celebrate the moms in my life, especially after the year we have had. I am also holding those in my heart who have recently lost a mother or child, have a strained relationship with their mom or child and those yearning to be mothers.

I generally recommend to coordinate outfits rather than match for photos, however when my kids ask to “twin” with them, I am happy to participate! The first style board features a fun flamingo print!

Starting with mom, in the bright flamingo print shirt paired with light wash wide leg denim. This shirt can also be dressed up with a pencil skirt. In the same print is the adorable girls dress! The size range for this piece is 2y – 12y. I added a coordinating dress in a sunny solid color with a rainbow pompom trim. The boy looks are cool and comfortable in polos and shorts. Don’t worry “boy moms”, I’ve got you covered! Finding matching mom and son looks are a bit harder, but this next board pulls it all together with navy gingham.

This light and flirty short-sleeve shirt dress in a classic navy gingham will take you from brunch to BBQ. The dress coordinates nicely with dads navy dress shirt and of course matches the boys button up shirt or romper. The toddler boys shirt is available in sizes 1Y – 5Y and there is also a boys shirt option for up to size 14/16. Do you have a beach day planned or love a tropical vibe? This next board is for you! In this instance the kids match and coordinate with the fun tropical patterns.

Mom anchors the group with a chambray dress! It is a little hard to see on this board, but dads short sleeve shirt is actually a small floral pattern. UPDATED 4/27/2021: Anthropologie just launched Like Mother, Like Daughter: The 2021 Collection so I wanted to add a couple new style boards and ideas here to this post. Anthropologie is one of my favorite retailers because they offer size ranges from Petite to Plus and the patterns and cuts are unique and beautiful. This collection has dresses, tops, shoes, hats, jewelry and more. I selected a few that caught my eye here.

They also have pajama sets, which I thought were adorable! The blue set can easily be for boys or girls.

Similar to my feeling that we are about to have double the weddings over the next year or two, I feel we are in for a baby boom! I am well aware of the hormonal ride that is the end of pregnancy, and the exhausted haze that comes with having a newborn. I would have LOVED to be able to just pick a style board in preparation for the newborn photo session and have it all taken care of so simply. I hope these style boards do that for a family of a newborn, so you can relax in anticipation of the new arrival or soak up the baby cuddles.

When it comes to newborn family photo sessions, I recommend a very neutral color palette as the focus should be on the newest member of the family. Newborn photography tends to be soft in nature, so I keep that in mind when pulling inspiration pieces for these sessions. I love soft, cozy fabrics and layering in texture to add interest and depth.

To start, I created a color palette guide before selecting the actual outfit pieces on the style board. Feel free to use this to find items you already have at home for your photo session.

The first style board features a beautiful blush or dusty pink color. Most newborn photography sessions occur in a warm studio to make sure the baby is comfortable and sleepy so keep that in mind when choosing fabrics. I selected a simple maxi dress for mom in the beautiful shade of blush. This color and fabric will highlight the adorable baby in the photos. I added a few options for the baby here as well: a simple gown, a printed muslin blanket for swaddling and pretty floral onesie.

Keeping with the soft palette, dad is wearing a soft grey sweater and light wash denim. For big brother(s) and sister(s), still neutral and comfortable. Here are a few other options to consider within this color palette.

This next style board is also muted yet beautiful with shades of blues and greens. This one also features a separates option for mom instead of a dress, if that is a style you prefer. I try to cover many different personal styles, budgets, body types etc. with the boards I share, however I do offer additional services where I create a personalized style board just for you and/or your family. The star of the photo shoot has a few options highlighted on this board: a gender neutral striped knotted gown, a variety of swaddles in this color palette and another muslin blanket with a subtle print. I LOVE a baby in a bonnet, so I added one here!

I chose my favorite shade of blue for Dad’s shirt on this board. This color will look amazing in pictures. The shirt is paired with a light gray stretchy chino pant to complete the neutral look. Mom’s cozy outfit includes a neutral jogger pant, white tee and long cardigan sweater in this lovely shade of light green. I found a letter necklace that would be a sweet gift for mom and look beautiful with this look as well. If there are older brothers and sisters in your newborn session, I kept them soft and neutral.

Finally, the last style board features the color sage green. This board remains subtle here, but could go more graphic or deeper into the earth tones if that is your personal style. The onesie in the center is a fun black and white cloud pattern and other swaddle options are here in a terracotta and sage green color.

I chose another dress for mom, flowy and comfortable, but not void of shape and style. This one is also nursing friendly. I think the sibling outfits on this style board are very sweet. I love the neutral jumpsuit and the pointelle sweater for the girls! This sweater is a good example of how you can use texture to add interest when trying to keep things very neutral.

1. Starting off with my style soul mate: the chambray shirt! I share my love for chambray in this blog post here in case you missed it. I love this one from Anthropologie, but size availability is up and down. Here are a couple alternatives that have most, if not all sizes in stock as I write this:

2. From the same style board and blog post as one way to wear the above chambray shirt is this fabulous pleated skirt. I could easily do a 1 item 3 ways style board with this skirt. This one from Boden comes in so many amazing colors and it is on sale right now! Just look at these colors!

3. The wrap dress in the saturated olive hue from the Spring Wedding Guest style board was another crowd pleaser. This dress is beautiful now and will also look amazing in the fall.

4. Paired with the amazing dress above is the floral beaded cuff from Anthropologie. This one is beautiful, however it is an investment piece. If your bracelet budget is a bit lower, I found a few alternatives:

5. Another popular item was the boys chino shorts from Boden. I featured them on one of the Spring Celebration style boards in the sunny yellow color, but I thought you might be interested to see the other great colors available as well. They are available in sizes 3Y to 14Y.

6. Next up is the vintage wash straight leg denim from Everlane. I love this wash and cut for spring and it seems you did too!

7. Toward the very top of this list was the girls olive ruffle jumpsuit. This piece is adorable for a girl of any age. 8. Another favorite was the navy sport coat from the Mens Work Trip style board. This is a wardrobe work horse as it can be dressed up and down, but my favorite is paired with denim to elevate the look just enough.

9. Also popular in the mens area are the dress shoes from Cole Haan. I recommend investing in a good pair of shoes if you are able. Not only will they look nice, but they will typically be more comfortable and if you wear them often they will last.

This time, I created boards in different styles: Edgy, Boho and Casual. Your family photos should reflect you and your family’s personal style. The most important thing is to be yourselves, in any style you love.

If you or your family has a bit of an edge – this first style board is for you! For family photos, I would recommend steering clear of graphic tees or anything that would detract from smiling faces.

Starting with mom, I chose a maxi dress with a thin black and white stripe pattern. To add a little edginess, I paired it with the moto jacket and peep toe neutral booties. For dad, dark denim and an olive green shirt with cargo pocket details.

I kept the olive green going with the jumpsuit and denim jacket look for one of the older girls. Camo and chambray work well for a coordinating look on this board. One way to express your edgy style is by shoes or accessories. The black and white print shoes give a little edge to the gray polo and gray washed denim. For the other girls, more black and white prints with a pop of pink!

The next style board features pieces with a boho feel – beautiful colors and touches of embroidery with an effortlessly fabulous vibe.

I can’t help to start with mom and the breezy, beautiful dress in a muted but amazing hue. Complete the look with an on-trend hat and sandal combo. For dad, I chose a pair of linen pants and blue short sleeve shirt.

The baby rompers are adorable! With a bit of whimsy in the pockets for baby girl. One of my favorite looks is the floral skirt and cardigan with sweet embroidery. I love a metallic shoe and in this case a fun sandal style to complete the look.

I had a hard time choosing which dress for mom because there are so many beautiful options. Here are a few other pieces to consider:

Finally, a style board for the family who feels best a bit more casual. The key to this style in family photos is to keep it simple not sloppy. The pieces I chose here are laid back and comfortable while letting the person shine through.

One of my favorite looks is the littlest girl in the floral pattern shorts and onesie. The other kid looks are comfortable with a muted color palette. Mom and Dad are in denim and sweaters. And I LOVE the floral shoes! Here are a few more casual options to shop:

I feel like we are going to have two years’ worth of weddings this year. For anyone with spring invites, I’ve got you covered! Again, I did one for women and another for men with a variety of options depending on the formality.

Anthropologie has hit it out the park with dresses recently. Starting with the fun print in the middle of this style board. Spring weather can be all over the place so I chose options with a little more coverage. This dress looks great with a belt and can be dressed up or down with your shoe choice. I paired it with a neutral heel, letting the pattern shine.

Give me all the slinky wrap dresses! The hue on this one is fabulous for many skin and hair colorings. I love it with the leopard print shoe and woven clutch with a tassel. The luxe fabric and solid color allow you to pair it with many different styles of accessories.

Another option I felt needed to be added to the Spring Wedding Guest board was the navy jumpsuit. These can be such a classy dress alternative with the right shoes and accessories. Depending on the weather, a strappy sandal works well paired with a statement earring or clutch.

I wanted to be sure to include a few more spring wedding guest options to consider, including a couple outer layer pieces:

For men, if you are unsure of the formality, you can’t go wrong with a suit and tie.

In this case, I selected a navy suit for this style board. Pair it with a crisp white shirt and express your personality with your tie. Complete this wedding guest look with dress shoes that are comfortable enough to dance in.

Another option would be a blazer paired with chinos. This is generally less formal than a full suit but can still be pulled together with a pocket square and nice shoes.

I finished off the board with a classic blue dress shirt and khakis. This would be great for an outdoor casual wedding. Don’t forget, bow ties are an option!

No matter what look you go with, please don’t forget to wear your dress socks. They don’t have to be boring; this is another place you can express your style and personality.

Ladies first:

If you travel often for work, I recommend a functional and nice-looking rolling carry-on or weekender bag. Keep in mind, you may have it with you for meetings or as you meet your colleagues so it should be appropriate for the type of work you do and the message you want to portray. The one on the board is a beautiful weekender, but here are a couple rolling options to consider:

I included a clutch on this style board that can easily go between the carry-on bag and the work tote or on its own for an evening event. A great work bag is such a personal preference, so I am including a few more options:

The travel look includes a medium wash denim paired with a v-neck white tee and classic cozy cardigan sweater. I love scarves for the interest it adds to an outfit, but especially when traveling as I see it as a built in blanket! Complete the look with a pendant necklace and clean, comfortable shoes. Whether you know you have an evening dinner planned on your trip or not, I suggest being ready for it with dark wash denim and a top in a luxe fabric. For this board, I chose one with a pattern and feminine details. I believe every closet needs a classic navy blazer. This can be dressed up or dressed down and makes everyone look put together. When traveling, a one-piece outfit saves you room in your carry-on. Be meeting-ready in this classic black dress. With fun shoes and statement jewelry, it also makes you look effortlessly fabulous! Look at these beautiful colorful options. The cobalt blue wrap dress is wrinkle resistant!

Now for the gentlemen:

As I mentioned earlier, a rolling carry-on works well for business travel. I love the look of this olive green with leather accents and it is sure to stand out amongst the sea of black bags. If this one isn’t quite your style, here are a couple more:

Travel comfortably in the khaki pants that are made from specially engineered Italian cotton – super soft with the perfect amount of stretch. On the style board, I completed the look with a quarter zip sweater and clean white shoe. The fabric options for men have come a long way, see below for a few more to shop:

The navy blazer is a wardrobe staple for both women and men. Can you tell I am a fan?!?! You can break up a navy suit, like the one I featured in the Spring Celebrations style board (here) and use the jacket for this look. Or, get a slightly more casual stand alone navy blazer. Paired with dark denim and a light blue or white dress shirt it makes a great look for a happy hour event or work dinner. If you already have a navy blazer and you are looking to expand your wardrobe options, I found a couple patterned jackets:

A grey suit is versatile with many different shirt and tie combos giving you plenty of options for a work trip. Just like the navy suit, the pant and jacket can be worn separately to really get the most miles out of this suit. I found a few more shirt options, in either a non-iron or performance fabric that works well for travel.

Here we have a crisp, classic color combination: navy and yellow. I was drawn to the navy gingham of the woman’s dress, as I associate that pattern with spring. I would complete the look with an espadrille wedge or flat and a light sweater if needed in the cooler temps. Like the ones linked below:

In my opinion, every guy needs a navy suit in his closet. This is appropriate for many occasions and the pieces can be worn separately to expand the wardrobe possibilities. A few of these possibilities are linked below.

Oh my – nothing makes me happier than little boys dressed up like little men! In this case, I kept it youthful with yellow shorts and a fun print on the shirt. Many people think pastel for spring, so I found my favorites for this style board.

This time I was inspired by the colors of the spring plaid you see on this board. With this pattern as the feature, the other little boy will pair nicely in a classic light blue shirt and khakis. Here are a couple things to round out these looks:

The plaid allows for some fun pattern mixing, and I like to choose patterns within the same color story. In this case, the dainty floral of the little girl dress will work well together.
