Hats: Wool or felt brimmed hats are a stylish way to add a layer and texture to a fall outfit. There are so many color and size options.

Jewelry: I love adding statement rings to outfits in the fall and winter as they feel a bit more balanced than with a lighter fabric in the spring or summer. The color of the stone in the ring featured on this style board is incredible, and the gold bracelets would provide so much versatility. Here are a few more to consider adding to your fall favorites:

Belts: Another way to add interest and dimension to your fall look is to add a belt. You can belt a cardigan, dress, blazer, or the original through the pant loops. I would consider the leopard print belt from the style board a neutral that can be paired with so many different outfits and styles. More to consider:

Wraps and scarves: One of the most impactful ways to add to your outfit is to use a scarf or wrap. The layering is perfect for the fall weather when you may need it for actual warmth and there are so many ways to add color and pattern. What is your go-to fall accessory?

Fall is a beautiful time to attend a wedding! The weather is usually a little more reasonable, the colors are amazing and the style opportunities are plentiful. I created two style boards featuring inspiration for three different wedding attires.

Backyard – Recently there have been more couples opting for intimate settings with fewer people, such as a backyard or a resort. This can be more casual, but I recommend taking your cues from the invitation and the couple when deciding on your wedding guest look.

Cocktail – If we are looking at these on a scale, cocktail attire would be dressier than casual, but not as formal as black tie. This leaves a little more room for men on their suit choice and women on the length of dress and overall style.

Black Tie – This would be the second most formal on the “wedding guest attire scale” with white tie being at the top. Black tie attire calls for men in tuxes and women in long dresses or formal pantsuits.

I was tempted to fill this style board with this dark green hue! There are so many beautiful dress options and it is the BEST fall color. It pairs nicely with black so you can do a black or neutral color shoe. I added a black drop earring and gold bracelet. I added a pattern in the clutch! This is a fun way to dress for cocktail attire.

I chose this patterned midi dress for the backyard look and kept the shoe a neutral color. You could do a heel or a flat shoe with this look. I love the natural crossbody bag with this dress and it is a good option if you prefer a bag with a strap.

Finally, the absolutely amazing black tie look! A wrap-style in another deep fall hue. I would complete this look with a statement earring and ring like the one I show on the board.

Starting with a stunning blue suit for the cocktail look. Have fun and express your personal style with accessories like cuff links, a tie or pocket square, and a watch.

I really likes this tweed suit for the more casual look of the backyard setting. The Forest Green leans fall and I paired it with dressier suede boots and a contrasting pocket square.

Finally, the tuxedo for black tie. The fit will be key, so make sure you get it tailored just for you! Here are a few other options I found while creating this board:

Here we are closing out the summer and entering into my favorite season to style – FALL! Before we are fully into fall layers, pattern and colors, I gathered the top clicked items for August. 1. Starting with the beautiful white maternity dress from The Hatch. This is amazing for family photos sessions while pregnant or for a newborn session. I found the same dress in a deep burgundy as well as another option in mustard.

One of her upcoming family photo sessions is a dreamy sunflower field! If that is a location you have always wanted to do, here is the style board I put together for that adorable family. We started with the light green dress that mom had just purchased and loved, so I built the rest of the style board around that piece.

For the three boy looks, who range in age from 1-16 years, it is a variety of light blues, greens and khaki, with some pattern and layering to add interest and dimension. For the sweet little girl look, I chose this blue and white pattern dress with tights and ankle boots to complete the girly twirly look.

I was inspired by the color palette shown on the bottom right of this board. Starting with the golden hue of this Anthropologie maxi dress. Style it for fall with a denim layer and ankle bootie. The deep green of the denim pant pairs well with the patterned chambray shirt. For the kid looks, I chose the brilliant blue pants an white linen shirt and the floral dress with sweet collar to pull it all together.

As I say in the What to Wear For Family Photos Guide (get it here!) start with moms look, so in this case I chose a navy printed midi dress. Style it for fall photos with a soft cream open cardigan and ankle boots. The olive pants and light blue dress shirt compliment it very nicely. Add leather boots to keep it on the casual side and make it season appropriate. For one of the girls looks I selected a floral pattern to pull all the colors together. Complete it with the navy slide-on Rothy’s. I love these shoes as they can be washed in the washing machine and come out looking good as new! The other girl look from the style board is in the olive color with tights and a patterned ankle boot to complete the look.

Newborn photo sessions don’t need to match the season, unless you want it to of course! But I thought since we are coming into the fall, I would use a few autumn hues as inspiration.

Starting with the newest member of the family, I love the golden copper solid wrap, as well as the colors in this floral print wrap. Another option for baby is the cream colored sweater outfit. For mom’s look, I kept it flowy, simple and beautiful in this white midi dress. As a layering option I chose this light blue open cardigan. The men’s look coordinates nicely with chinos and blue and white patterned shirt.

For the older siblings, it is a mix of a gauzy dress and sweater in the copper color to a denim romper and blue and white dresses. Corduroy, chambray and denim for the boys.

The olive green pairs nicely with the earthy hue of dads sweater and the slate green maxi dress. For older sister(s), a chambray dress pairs with almost anything, and in this case a metallic ballet flat completes the outfit. I love the color of this dress with the shirred bodice and elbow sleeves. Sweaters are a great choice for newborn photos as the softness is great for photos and cuddling the sweet new addition.

September and October are popular months for family photos! I have been busy curating photo session style inspiration for many families. The fall foliage makes for a beautiful back drop and it is a great time to update your family photo. This first style board features deep fall colors like this beautiful burgundy and navy. I love the floral pattern for the little girl look! The amazing colors pull all the looks together. Dark denim, a camel boot and cozy burgundy sweater is simple and stunning for a fall photo session. Add a long necklace to complete the look. For the men’s look, I chose a pair of khakis and navy gingham shirt layered with a navy half-zip sweater. Red Wing boots complete this look and add a great pair of boots for the fall and winter season. The boy’s look is another layering opportunity with corduroys paired with a chambray shirt and navy quilted vest.

This next style board features a color palette with dusty rose and rust, which is a bit unexpected and I LOVE it so much.

A chambray dress is a great transition from summer to fall and so many shades of blue will work with this beautiful color palette. Depending on weather and photo session setting you can layer with an open cardigan and ankle boots. For the men’s look, I went with khaki chinos, paired with a cotton blazer. The muted color tone is perfect for photos. I was eyeing this amazing, rust linen boys shirt earlier in the season and I thought it worked so well here! I love it with the medium wash denim. The twirliest dresses for girls! The dusty pink and the blue and white pair nicely and add interest and dimension to this family photo style board.

This third style board features a golden mustard and olive green color combination which would look amazing among the fall foliage.

The little girl look has a fall floral pattern and metallic boot. Obviously the chambray dress with the feminine ruffle detail and ankle boot would look beautiful among the fall colored trees. Mom’s look is a simple yet colorful dress layered with a denim jacket and neutral shoes. The men’s look incorporates the olive green, but paired with a classic light blue button down to keep it from going to dark. Finally the boy’s look is the fall staple pattern, navy gingham, layered under the quilted navy vest, paired with the corduroys.

The mens JCrew cotton oxford shirt in the classic blue and white stripe seen on this board is a nice summer weight shirt option for men and perfect for anyone who likes their clothing to feel soft and broken in right from the start. The sizes are limited in the stripe, but as of this posting all sizes were available in the solid blue.

7. A trendy but still classic sandal is of course the Birkenstock. That was a favorite this past month so it earned a spot on the board!

8. I love a girls knit dress! This colorful piece from Boden was a centerpiece of one of the Summer Family photo style boards. As of now it is still in stock in all the sizes (from 2 – 12Y) but here are a few more options because I just love them so much:

9. The hue of this boys linen shirt is so unique and pairs wonderfully with the usual blue tones. It comes in several other colors, including this amazing rust color that would be beautiful for late summer or fall photos. The size range is 2 months to 12 years. One thing I have been asked recently as well as frequently throughout my experience as a stylist is: What to wear to a job interview?!?! I created two style boards for job interview style inspiration; each one featuring three different possible styles: Casual, Business Casual and Professional.

First and foremost, the most important thing is to wear something that makes you feel like your best, and most confident self! What you wear should enhance not distract so your experience and knowledge speak louder than your outfit. I also suggest being overdressed vs. underdressed. I hope the style boards provide inspiration and guidance for what to wear to a job interview.

I defined 3 different levels of job interview style on the board. There are a few factors that determine what category to be in: career field, potential job, and most importantly YOU! Again, I would recommend slightly overdressed vs. being underdressed.

CASUAL: On this style board, I chose a classic navy and white striped shirt dress with a neutral sandal to complete the look. If a suit or even a dressy blouse and pant feels too overdressed, a shirt dress can be a great option as it is tailored and looks pulled together.

BUSINESS CASUAL : This category has a wide variety of options for your job interview. In this instance, I selected a patterned blouse with a pencil skirt. The shoe choice is still neutral but with a bit of detail to make them interesting. You could also do a great pair of pants or layer on a cardigan or blazer in another color.

PROFESSIONAL : I love a well fitting suit! And I have said it before and I will say it again, a navy suit will give you many wardrobe options. On this board it is shown with a solid knit underneath and a pair of neutral heels. Express your personal style with the shirt you pair with the suit.

CASUAL: For this casual look, I chose a well fitting pair of khakis paired with a navy blue button down shirt. Even if the clothing is a bit more causal, I would pull it together with a dress shoe.

BUSINESS CASUAL : I selected a light gray pant, paired with a striped button down shirt. I liked the detail of the navy blue buttons and threading. You can leave this look open collar, but I would suggest adding a tie in most situations. On this style board, I added a solid navy blue tie with texture.

PROFESSIONAL : Similar to the last style board, I also chose a navy suit for this one. In the same way, it sill look great for interviews, weddings, graduations etc. and will create many options by using the pieces separately.
